Study Mode asks questions and offers hints to encourage understanding. Parents can make it the default or lock it on for a profile.
03
Separate profiles keep preferences and conversations together, and teens get a more grown-up tone. Parents manage profiles from a PIN-protected dashboard.
04
Review token and cost estimates, track usage, and set daily limits for each profile, with a choice to pause chat or switch to cheaper models. Teens see what their chats cost each day; younger children see how much of the day’s limit is used.
More conversation. More discovery.
Choose a personality, ask a question, and follow the curiosity. Smart Mode can select a model from your family’s enabled choices.

Built with grown-ups in the loop
Protection works in layers. Here’s what’s in the beta, and where it has limits.
Profanity filtering and OpenAI moderation check messages in both directions. If AI moderation is unavailable, a simpler keyword filter is used, which offers less protection.
Administrators curate the model pool. Parents choose which of those models their family can use and can restrict model tiers for individual profiles.
Study Mode locks, model restrictions, and daily usage limits are checked on the server. A daily cost limit can be exceeded by the final reply; it is not a prepaid spending guarantee.
Parents who own the family account can read conversations stored under that account. For profiles owned by a separate account, linked-parent access follows the configured history permissions. Conversation retention settings control scheduled cleanup.
The technology behind the conversation
DadGPT connects to model APIs through OpenRouter. The integration supports these model families; specific versions and availability depend on the curated catalog and your family’s settings.
You choose the boundaries. Smart Mode selects within enabled models and profile restrictions. See the current choices in the parent dashboard.
API access is different from an app subscription. DadGPT does not include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity consumer subscriptions. Some Sonar models use live web search, which adds another content source to consider.
Simple and clear, before you commit
We’re working out the included AI usage and model access before opening paid subscriptions. Final pricing, limits, and billing terms will be published here before purchase.
Pricing to be announced
The current beta requires an invitation code. Paid subscriptions are not available yet.

Already in the beta
Chats can be renamed and deleted from the conversation list. A child’s deleted chats stay visible to their parent.
Parent-set Study Mode locks and defaults are now applied on the server to both chat and cost previews.
Requests for one profile are processed in order so simultaneous messages cannot all pass the same daily-limit check.
Good questions, grown-ups
Clear answers matter as much as clever ones.
An adult with a beta invitation code can use the signup page and sign in with Google or Microsoft. The beta is still being developed; public paid signup is not available yet.
No. DadGPT is an AI chatbot. The personalities change its conversational style; they are not real people or a replacement for parents, teachers, or professional care.
Study Mode prompts the model to guide learning with hints and questions. The parent’s mode lock is enforced by the server, but the wording of an AI reply still depends on the model and can be imperfect.
Parents can read conversations for profiles stored under their own account. For a profile on a separate account, such as a supervised teen, linked-parent access can allow full history, summaries, or no history access, depending on permissions. When a child deletes a chat, it leaves their list but stays visible to their parent, who can restore it or delete it for good. Messages blocked by the safety filter are not saved as conversations. The exception is a message that may be about self-harm: the child gets a supportive reply with crisis resources, and the message is shown to their parent in the parent dashboard, with an email alert.
No. Filters can miss content, and AI can make mistakes. Use DadGPT with adult guidance, check important information, and avoid sharing sensitive details. DadGPT is not an emergency service or a tool for medical or mental-health advice.
No. DadGPT uses model APIs through OpenRouter. Access to a model in DadGPT does not include the model provider’s separate consumer app or subscription.
DadGPT stores conversations for history and permitted parent review. Relevant chat content goes to OpenRouter and the selected model provider; content checks use OpenAI. Provider data practices also apply. The summary here is not a Privacy Policy; final public-launch policies and consent arrangements are still being prepared.
